obstacles in my way? I think not.
One of the biggest problems I'm encountering now is family. Well parent especially. I feel like everytime I talk about this with my mom, we end up in a fight. Whether it's about finances or how it fits into my life plan or just the "be careful" speech. I think watching the movie "The Constant Gardiner" freaked her out a bit. She hasn't brought it up recently but there's really nothing to be scared about. Most places in Africa are quite safe and there's really nothing to worry about. I mean there's always a risk but I wouldn't want a kind of life where I don't take any risks. Of course it doens't mean being stupid it just means knowing what you're getting into and knowing what could happen and how best to avoid that. I sometimes feel like I have absolutely no support from her, or from anyone else for that matter, but it's something I really want to do and well, after having broken up with guys over this, it's going to take something really big to stop me.

Yay! even more bloggage! I have more than one after all...
I didn't make it to town today...I'm kind of under the weather :(
I never knew you loved M*A*S*H...now you really need to come and spend some time at my house since I have Seasons1-9 on DVD (I haven't purchased 10 yet)

You likely just have to let her come to this on her own terms and timing. Her problems with it are multi-layered probably...
Ultimately she's worried about you and probably hates the fact that you'll be so far away.
It might sound often like she's really coming down on you, but sometimes that's how parents can be when they don't understand something, don't WANT to accept something, or are just plain scared.
I think your steadfastness, showing her you've clearly thought this through, will eventually win the day...at least I hope for your sake it does.
